By 1993 Sylvan and Dragone were still making the pods by hand, and brought in manufacturing consultant Dick Sweeney to serve as co-founder and to automate the manufacturing process. The prototype brewing machines were also a work in progress and unreliable, and the company needed funds for development. That year, they approached what was then Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, and the specialty coffee company first invested in Keurig at that time. Keurig needed sizeable venture capital; and after pitching to numerous potential investors the three partners finally obtained $50,000 from Minneapolis-based investor Food Fund in 1994, and later the Cambridge-based fund MDT Advisers contributed $1,000,000. In 1995 Larry Kernan, a principal at MDT Advisers, became Chairman of Keurig, a position he retained through 2002. Sylvan did not work well with the new investors, and in 1997 he was forced out, selling his stake in the company for $50,000. Dragone left a few months later but decided to retain his stake. Sweeney stayed on as the company’s vice president of engineering.

Balance Your Work and Personal Life with Yoga. Yoga was very popular in the 1960s when "consciousness" was the rage but it became less popular over time. People began to get frustrated with yoga, which does give you results although they take some time to see. People began using aerobics and other forms of exercise instead. Yoga is now gaining popularity again, although it is a less mystical type of yoga and more about getting your mind and body fit and healthy. If you look at yoga without considering the spiritual aspect, you can see it is a great way to stretch and become more flexible. Many people who want to balance their work and personal life find that yoga helps them do this. Many people have very busy and stressful jobs that leave them feeling tense so they are relying on yoga to help them balance work and personal life. Yoga helps them relax and unwind after a stressful and busy day. Many people find that traditional forms of exercise like weight lifting and aerobics actually make them more stressed out instead of helping them relax. Most of us spend our days rushing around and then rushing around some more to fit in exercise during our lunch hour. This does help us stay healthy but it also adds even more stress to our life. Yoga is a more relaxing form of exercise that reduces stress levels and calms us down. Yoga and the ability to heal is increasing its popularity. Medical issues like back, knee or neck pain makes doing traditional forms of strenuous exercise difficult and painful. Medical experts are beginning to recognize that yoga is a great way for patients to stay in shape without aggravating existing injuries and that is why there are so many videos and books on the subject today. People are becoming more interested in how our body and mind connect and are turning to yoga to help build the connection. There is evidence that yoga helps lower blood pressure and stress, helps you do your job more effectively, and helps slow down the aging process. There are many different forms of yoga that are being used in medical facilities and in the business world. You can find books and discussion groups online on the subject of yoga. The Army is trying to find out more about how yoga may help the military perform better by commissioning a study on the subject. The exact method of doing yoga varies but basically you focus on keeping your body relaxed and focusing your mind on an object, a sound, your breathing or the way your body is moving. When your mind begins to wander, you just refocus. As many as 60% to 90% of the doctor visits are a result of stress so treating the mind and body with yoga can be a good way to maintain your health and reduce stress. Women who suffer from infertility, for example, are three times as likely to get pregnant when doing yoga, and people with insomnia are three times more likely to get rid of this problem.
